The Centre for Children's Gut Health is a pioneering research facility committed to advancing knowledge and improving care for children with gut-related diseases.

Our work focuses on understanding the complexities of the human gut, with a particular emphasis on conditions affecting young people. By combining cutting-edge research with family-centred care, we aim to make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of children locally, nationally, and globally.

As part of a collaborative network, we work alongside healthcare professionals, families, and academic institutions to drive innovation in both clinical practice and research. Our centre serves as a hub for world-leading studies, evidence-based decision-making, and the dissemination of best practices in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. Through our research and clinical services, we are dedicated to improving outcomes for children and shaping the future of gut health care.

Who we are

The Centre for Children's Gut Health is a collaborative hub dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of gut-related diseases in children. We bring together families, healthcare professionals, and researchers to create an environment where pioneering research and practical support can thrive. Our work is underpinned by a commitment to improving the lives of children and their families affected by these conditions.

What we do

We conduct world-class research that influences both local and global practices in the care of children with gut-related diseases. Our Centre acts as a central resource for research, providing expertise and infrastructure to support innovative studies. By partnering with healthcare providers and international institutions, we ensure our findings are not only groundbreaking but also implemented in everyday care. From informing policy to improving clinical outcomes, our work shapes the future of paediatric gut health.

Our aims

  • To undertake and effectively disseminate world leading research into care and support of young people with gut related diseases, their families and staff who care for them
  • To act as a 'hub' for research in the UK and internationally
  • To offer a responsive research facility to CUH to support evidence-informed decision-making
  • Where appropriate, to stimulate and support the involvement of staff and the families who use CUH in the Centre's research
