Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Clinical Director for Cambridge Children’s Hospital Project
Biography: Rob completed his specialist training at the Royal Free Hospital in London and Boston Children’s Hospital, US. This included 2 years as CICRA Research Fellow in paediatric IBD. He was appointed at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge in 2008 to establish a regional specialty service for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition. As Clinical Lead for the service, Rob has supported the expansion of the clinical department and the development of the active integrated translational research program led by Matt Zilbauer. Since 2012, Rob divides his week equally between clinical care, predominantly of children with IBD, and management responsibilities. He completed 7 years as Divisional Director for Women & Children’s Services and now leads efforts to build a regional specialist hospital for children - Cambridge Children’s - on the biomedical campus.
Research & Service Development: Rob contributes actively to the ongoing translational research program and continues to take part in clinical trial activity for children with IBD. Other priorities include promoting patient engagement to improve and develop services offered to children and families.
