It has been created by Jen, one of our patient volunteers (and parent to a young patient under our care!) and is approved by the team, ensuring it is accurate, relevant and up-to-date.
Using her own experiences of living with IBD from a young age, Jen has designed the journals to be full of engaging, age-appropriate information delivered in a nurturing and supportive way. The journal can be personalised to reflect each patient’s individual journey, and has endless opportunities to record facts, questions and concerns, encouraging conversation and connection with family, friends and healthcare teams.
As well as helping young patients to learn about their condition, the journal promotes mental health awareness, offering advice and support in coping with anxiety and stress and common mental health challenges in IBD.
We now offer Me (and IBD) to all our younger patients, laying the groundwork to a lifetime of positive interactions with both their condition, and healthcare in general.
